Blaze Makoid design C

Blaze Makoid design C-shaped house surrounding a courtyard and pool overlooking a field

Blaze Makoid Architecture designed the Fieldview house in East Hampton, New York.

Description about the project from the architect

Located on a flat, one acre flag lot with neighbors close to the front and side yards, this 4,000 square foot house is configured of three primary volumes arranged in an 'C' that frame the expansive, southern view of an adjacent, agricultural reserve. This view serves as a backdrop to an interwoven composition of interior and exterior spaces.

Entry, through a glass void in the northern side of the house, is approached by a raised, stone walk, under an exaggerated uplighted canopy. The entry foyer, at the terminus of the outdoor pool, separates public space to the left and the private, two story bedroom wing to the right. An open floor plan contains living room, dining room and kitchen stretches along the length of the central outdoor patio. Large expanses of south…

2015 Collaboration for West Elm + Kate Spade Saturday

If adding oomph to a tired personal space—and doing so on a modest budget—is amongst your 2015 resolutions, West Elm and Kate Spade Saturday have gotten together to lend a helping hand. The home goods retailer and youthful fashion label have collaborated on a collection of modern furniture, bedding, and home accessories laden with the bright colors and punchy graphics for which both brands are famous, offering some joyful antidotes for the winter doldrums. Arty florals, vivid solids, and geometric patterns comprise a range of contemporary furniture, bed linens, pillows and tabletop items infused with crisp visual flair and a distinct Mid Century vibe sure to delight the design buff who craves either an entire room makeover or an eye-catching accent piece. We especially like the breezy, well-priced ($99-$249), and wordy art offerings. Which of us could honestly turn down No Worries and Good Vibes for the coming year?

Colizza Bruni designed a jumble of homes clad in metal siding

Colizza Bruni Architecture designed this development of 6 new homes that replaced a single house in Ottawa, Canada.

Colizza Bruni designed a jumble of homes clad in metal siding

From the architect

The development consists of 6 new homes in the neighbourhood of Hintonburg. The four detached and one semi-detached buildings replace a former single detached dwelling and garage which occupied the 600 m2 lot. Each home is 100 m2 and is built on a 100 m2 lot. The buildings are 2 storeys, with a partial third storey; each has an at-grade as well as a rooftop amenity space, one parking space and is clad in metal siding. The design is a collage of colours, forms and textures where its materiality makes reference back to the industrial heritage of the neighbourhood.
